From certain economic currents or approaches, they encourage us to start our own businesses instead of seeking employment in a company or working in the public sector, as if it were something negative. Politically correct words have long been used to soften the reality that we should all venture into the business world. Let me tell you that I am far from using politically correct language or embellishing the truth in this post...

The path of an entrepreneur is challenging, where you will test your entire being. We don't have fixed hours; we face stress, nerves, anxiety, sleepless nights, and, sometimes, we don't even manage to enjoy our free time, which we often don't have. Even so, we must face all these challenges and work within ourselves not to collapse in the attempt to achieve growth and success.

We must deal with overwhelming tax systems, unempathetic officials, seek financing without losing our essence and freedom, without selling our soul to the devil, as the popular expression says. We must encounter customers who do not value our efforts, products, or services and seek to pay less or, in some cases, not pay at all. We must encounter people who only want to see us fail or get a free trial and approach us out of self-interest or to cause harm, so we must practice our patience and inner resilience.

As an agile founder and manager of a small startup, I have to take on almost all the functions, from interviewing candidates to finding clients, visiting companies, which I would love to delegate but I don't have enough capital to do so, so all the responsibilities fall on my shoulders. I must be a constant example, lead others, and simultaneously lead my own emotions, fears, uncertainties, and work. I must keep a calm mind while leading diverse work groups, each with their history, professional training, challenges, and experiences, guiding and supporting them in the search for their skills and potential, all while doing the same for myself, without losing faith that everything will work.

As owners of any business, we are required to do much more than we ourselves can give; we invest all our savings, resources, time, knowing that there is a high probability that everything will go wrong. Still, we do it because to be in this world, you have to have a lot of courage, willpower, and a large dose of hope.

Being an entrepreneur or being your own boss, whatever you want to call it, is not easy. It requires mastering a wide range of skills, both technical and interpersonal, from mathematical calculations to understanding why a team member's performance has decreased or why the office air conditioning is not working, we must pay attention to the details.

Surely, after reading all this, you will ask yourself: why start a business then? The answer is simple: because you want to change the world and the society in which we live, because you are a special person who seeks to leave a positive mark on the lives of others, because you want to prove to yourself and the world that you can do it.

As leaders and founders of new ventures, of any size, we impact the lives of many people. Without us, the economic engine of a country would have several problems, and many people would be unemployed. They would not be able to have the experience that would allow them to be accepted by large companies. Without small companies that welcome juniors, large companies would not exist. You should read when they ask for between 5 to 7 years of experience, where does a candidate get it from?
