2nd August
We kicked off the month with a relay swim completion of the Length of Loch Lomond, a team of soldiers from the 127 Dragon Battery were swimming to raise money for Army Benevolent Fund The Soldier's Charity . The 8 strong team completed the swim in '15hrs 7 mins of bloody hard graft' as quoted from the team leader Sgt Mike Outen.
5th August
The sun shone for a change, well in the morning anyway, for our Loch Lubnaig Swim Festival. The morning weather conditions were perfect for swimmers swimming the Length of the Loch which is a 5.8k swim. The weather changed in the afternoon as the wind picked up however the swimmers still managed to complete their 1, 2 & 3k swims.
12th August
Tomorrow will see Scott McQuade tackle his solo swim of Loch Lomond to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity . Scott made the decision to raise funds for the charity after his son Ross had a seizure in the middle of the night and after brain scan he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
25th August
The Re-Lay Big Beatson Swim team will tackle the Length of Loch Lomond, the team are a small group of Beatson staff (and friends) and last year took part in a long distance open water swim on Loch Ard, to Raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity, swimming 22 km between us (the distance between the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer centre in Glasgow and the new Lanarkshire Beatson). This year, they are going a step further, and are attempting to swim the length of Loch Lomond (a whopping 39 km!) in relay.
