Over 80% of US Companies are Building Net-Zero Programs, None are Waiting for Legislation
A survey by EcoOnline found over 80% of companies are building net-zero programs and none are waiting are waiting for legislation to be enacted before creating a sustainability program or team. The survey also found 73% of respondents see sustainability as an opportunity for revenue growth, and 94% see sustainability as a way to increase brand value.
88% Report Data Quality is a Top Challenge for Companies
A new report by Deloitte finds 88% of companies are finding data quality for ESG reporting to be one of their top three challenges, and 57% of them cite it as their top challenge. Only 25% of surveyed consumer businesses report Scope 3 emissions.
Wind and Solar Produce Energy than Fossil Fuels in the EU
In the first half of 2024, wind and solar produced 30% of the EU's electricity generation while fossil fuels produced 27% of electricity. This marks a 17% decrease in electricity generation by fossil fuels in the first half of the year compared to 2023.

14 Months of Consecutive Record High Temperatures
NOAA reported the global surface temperature was 2.18°F (1.21°C) above the 20th century average, marking it as the warmest July on record, and continuing the streak with 14 consecutive months of record high temperatures.
Sea surface temperatures were the second-warmest on record, ending 15 consecutive months of record-setting temperatures.
