In recent years, CO2 shortages and supply disruptions have posed a significant challenge for breweries globally. The shutdown of major CO2 plants, whether due to maintenance or permanently, has left many breweries struggling to maintain operations. These shutdowns have caused CO2 prices to skyrocket to as much as six times their levels in some areas, not including additional surcharges.

This month news about two major CO2 plants shutting down in the US, The Hopewell plant in Virginia and Nutrien plant in Georgia, has already started to impact CO2 suppliers and straining an already dwindling supply.

Installs in August

Tempest Brewing Co had a 5 kg DALUM CO2 Recovery Plant and a 1 ton tank installed in their brand new brewery. As a brewery valuing high quality ingredients, they can now produce and add their own CO2 to their beer along with local malted barley, their own propagated yeast strains, natural water sourced from the local area, and fine hops from all over the world.
