We are heavily focused on bringing you all the latest and greatest from the world of cloud-native, which is why we have some exciting new live streams, webinars, and masterclasses in August. Read on to know more!

Have you heard about the Uyuni project? A fork of the former Spacewalk project, Uyuni is an infrastructure and config management tool from SUSE that allows you to manage whichever Linux distribution you need. Earlier this year, it introduced support for the openEuler project. Learn more about this integration by joining Divya Mohan , our principal technology advocate on Rancher Live, as she hosts Zhenyu Zheng, community operations and one of the maintainers of the openEuler project, on 8th August, 2024. We will stream live on YouTube, LinkedIn, X(formerly Twitter), and Twitch.

Every year has a buzzword, and platform engineering is definitely one of the contenders in that category this year. On August 29th, we will catch up with Colin Griffin , one of the co-chairs of Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) 's Platform Working Group, to learn more about platform engineering and understand some of the concrete artefacts delivered by the working group. Considering the latest release of Longhorn v1.7.0 later this month, we have scheduled a very special virtual meetup focusing on its features. We hope you can join us on August 27th at 10 AM ET. Aeon Desktop

Full Disk Encryption will be introduced in the forthcoming release candidate of the Aeon Desktop to enhance user data security. Designed to protect data in case of device loss, theft, or unauthorized booting of the system, Aeon’s encryption will be set up in two modes - Default or Fallback. Learn more about the feature here.

Kubewarden

We are thrilled to announce the release of Kubewarden v1.15.0! This version includes CEL policy updates, controller enhancements, and fixes that make Kubewarden even more robust and user-friendly. Read more about the release in the official blog announcement here.?

openSUSE Slowroll

openSUSE Slowroll is nearly ready for full deployment and the development team has been working diligently to prepare the next version bump, with a release on July 9 and planned updates scheduled for August 9 and Sept. 9. These updates are expected to maintain a consistent monthly cadence to ensure users have timely and stable updates. Learn more about our quarter of updates here.

Rancher Desktop

We recently released Rancher Desktop v1.15.0. Some notable updates include the removal of support for Kubernetes versions 1.21.0 and lower and numerous bugfixes. Check out our release notes to view the complete list of changes in this release.?

News from the Ranch

With the release of RKE 1.6.0, please note that RKE will be maintained for only two more versions, and support will reach end of life on July 25, 2025. Please read our announcement blog to learn more about the next steps.?
