August employee spotlight

For the month of August, we are spotlighting our VP of Strategic Business Development. We welcomed Brain back to Phoenix Builders 4/2024. Brian previously worked for us from 2017-2020.

1. What's your role and day-to-day like? Business development (new sales) is my everyday role. Each day is different in the aspect of talking to new people whom I don't know and introducing them our offerings to gain the opportunity to earn their business. Each day is similar in that I use databases to gain access to decision makers at companies. I am motivated each day to try and gain new profitable opportunities for Phoenix Builders. My motivation comes from knowing there's a great team behind me with will craft the right proposals. In turn, we all collaborate with the client in the end to deliver lasting results and continue to earn their trust.
2. Tell us about a project success story and how you were involved. Over Covid, I did a lot of reading and one day an article in the Wall Street Journal caught my eye. It was about the leading hospitality company nationwide embarking on a new journey into a growing entity in the hotel space. The CEO's name was listed, and I did research to learn who the CEO was, his career and experiences. I sent a letter, subsequent emails and a phone call. The phone call was key because HE ANSWERED!! Next step was letting his team know our strengths and how we can help. The outcome was being awarded a $9 million ground up project, the first of its kind for our company.
3. If you're ordering take out dinner, what is your favorite type of food and from where? Chinese food from Hong Kong Lite in Palantine.
4. What's a fun fact about you that most of your colleagues don't know? I have led a people who work from home Christmas party before working from home was a thing and have been doing it for 18 years running. Last year we raised over $17,000 for Beat Tom and Bill charity for cancer and helped out a friend in need.
5. What 3 things are on your bucket list? Visit Normandy, Enjoy Ireland (my heritage) and run another marathon (I've finished 4 already).
