OEM EVs are outshining Tesla ??

For the first time, traditional automakers have outshined Tesla in EV consumer satisfaction, according to J.D. Power’s latest 2024 automotive?study. OEM ****EVs scored higher than Tesla (as well as Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles (PHEVs) and gas cars) with an all-time high satisfaction score of 877, while Tesla slipped to 870.

What has caused this shift? Exterior styling, smooth driving & powertrain performance, and an improved fuel economy are increasing satisfaction. And despite Tesla's loyal fanbase, newer EVs are winning hearts with superior battery range and luxurious interiors, such as EVs from brands like Genesis and Cadillac. "Traditional OEMs are meeting customer needs better than ever before," notes Frank Hanley, Senior Director of Automotive Benchmarking at J.D. Power.

Room for improvement? Infotainment systems in EVs continue to lag behind, with many consumers finding them cumbersome and difficult to navigate.

The study surveyed over 99,000 owners of 2024 model-year vehicles.

Marketing ???Sales

Ensuring both EV marketing and sales teams are set-up for success, and working as a team to educate shoppers and close sales is critical.

However, if your marketing team isn’t excited about EVs or doesn’t have the tools to bring warmer leads into your store, how can you expect your sales team to succeed?

Various discussions we have had lately with dealership sales & marketing teams have made us realize that inefficiencies can exist when it comes to selling electric vehicles.

Some inefficiencies we see:

  1. Marketing not bought into the idea of EVs?or excited to market them due to a lack of knowledge.
  2. Sales teams unsure if a certain VIN is eligible?for federal and state tax credits.
  3. Sales team not prepared to research & educate?the customer on all available credits, rebates, and fuel savings while in-store.
  4. Customers wanting a federal credit?needed the controller to come and make final approval.

Solution? Provide your marketing and sales teams with more EV education, better data and better tools to set them up for success.

EVs are still a relatively new technology. Just like any new product, time and investment are needed now in order to reap the long-term benefits.

Lectrium?is here to help dealers close the gap learning curve gap for your marketing & sales teams.
