August Business News - New Projects

Business Partners, we need you.

If your business prioritises the environment and is looking to get involved in meaningful local projects, we have three new native tree planting projects we are seeking funding for in 2024. These projects are crucial for biodiversity and provide carbon sequestration.

If you are interested in talking about how your organisation can partner with us or to sponsor any of these projects, please contact Catherine or Lauren,

2024 Projects

Clunes, NSW - Helping our koalas

This property, which was formerly part of the Big Scrub Rainforest, will provide significant habitat for koalas. The Big Scrub once covered almost 75,000 hectares but was cleared during the 1800s for timber and agriculture.

Outcomes: #RainforestRestoration, #CarbonCapture, #HabitatForKoala

For this project to go ahead in 2024 we are seeking donations now.

Bangalow, NSW - Revegetating cleared farmland

Located directly inland from Byron Bay, with your support, we plan to restore the native rainforest, providing habitat for native species and sequestering carbon.

Outcomes: #RainforestRestoration, #CarbonCapture, #Habitat

For this project to go ahead in 2024 we are seeking donations now.

Talbot, WA - Restoring habitat for threatened bird species

We are looking for partners to help finance this vital habitat for our native birds, including the endangered Black Cockatoo.?Our planting plan aims to improve the water quality of the creek that runs through the property, benefiting both humans and animals alike.

Carbon Positive News

We are coming to the end of the planting season with an incredible 322,000 seedlings in the ground, more than 115kg of seed sown and an additional 272 hectares restored.

Carbon Positive Australia and the APACE team planting at Eurardy Reserve on Nanda Country

Supporting Landcare innovation and trialling new techniques has become increasingly important in our rapidly changing climate. Trees and greenspaces sequester carbon and help keep temperatures down, but our greenspaces are becoming more vulnerable and degraded.

This is why we value the work of Dr. Grey Coupland and the Harry Butler Institute. Miyawaki Pocket Forests are proving to be a climate solution in heating cities. Our donors and partners have contributed to creating 10 of these pocket forests in the last two years!

ANZ Small Business Team planting a Miyawaki Pocket Forest at Baldavis Secondary School

In 2022, the Miyawaki Pocket Forests project was awarded grant funding from the ANZ Community Foundation. This grant recognised and celebrated the importance and innovation of the Miyawaki Pocket Forest program in Australia.

We want to keep caring for these forests and conducting research as well as building more. If this type of program fits well with your sustainability plans please get in touch today.

Join our Board!

We are seeking three new members to join our voluntary Board.

Educational Resources

Carbon Neutrality is needed, but as we become more educated on our environmental systems, we have to broaden our ambition and, with that, our terminology. This short piece on Carbon Positive and Nature Positive solutions explains why and how we can develop our actions.

Thank you to Partners

In a world where corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly important, it's encouraging to see a growing number of small to medium-sized businesses stepping up to make a positive impact on the environment and society. We wanted to shine a light on the different ways some of our business partners have chosen to support the environment.

Read our latest LinkedIn article featuring new partnerships, such as Wandering Folk's celebration of Biodiversity Month, Open Hands Creative 's self-funded volunteer planting in the Wheatbelt, and Drift Culture 's $1 per sale donation.

We would also like to make a special mention to Charles Hunter from tailbird for utilising his marketing skills with substantial pro-bono work!

In the News

Land clearing and weakened environments contribute to bushfires

As we follow the wildfires in Canada and Europe, this article from 2021 gives information on land restoration and mega-fires.

"Green is the New Black"

We continue to hear about greenwashing in the news. Most recently, an energy company faced a federal lawsuit from Australian parents for misleading claims.

Have you heard of “Green Hushing”?

From our conversations with organisations, there is confusion about how to take action and the fear of getting it wrong. The article below discusses the issue of "greenhushing", stopping action for fear of getting it wrong.?

We believe it is important to take action for the climate and communicate genuinely. At this critical time, we cannot afford to let terminology and PR distract us from making progress.

For the health of the planet,
