August is Brake Safety Awareness Month
With the reliability of modern cars and longer maintenance intervals, we may take for granted the condition of safety components within our vehicles. Periodic inspections help identify upcoming maintenance needs, potential safety issues, and can also forestall more-costly future repairs. As a reminder to have one of your vehicle’s most critical safety systems inspected, August has been designated Brake Safety Awareness Month.
The Car Care Council* recommends the following:
“For routine maintenance, check your vehicle’s braking system at least once a year. A thorough inspection should include brake lining wear, brake fluid level, rotor thickness, condition of hoses and brake lines, brake and dash warning lights, as well as taking the car for a test drive to detect other potential brake system problems.”
Not sure when your brakes were last inspected, or looking for peace of mind? Pep Boys is offering free brake inspections throughout the month of August. Make an appointment at Pepboys.com, or visit one of our 1,000 + company owned locations. All Pep Boys are open nights and weekends for your convenience.
