The Downtown Mishawaka Library Will Host a Special Storytime with Pro Basketball Player Devin Cannady


Devin Cannady, a professional basketball player and first-time author, will be at the downtown Mishawaka Library from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on? Friday, August 2,?for a special storytime.

  • Cannady, a 2015 Marian High School graduate, will read his self-published book Aliya Can.
  • Each family in attendance will receive a free copy of Aliya Can.
  • After storytime, Cannady will be available to sign copies of his book.
  • Everyone is welcome to attend this event.
  • Adult caregivers must directly supervise participants 9 years of age and younger; caregivers must remain on the premises for participants 10-11 years of age.
  • This event is?possible through a partnership with MPHPL and Mishawaka's Park and Recreation Department.
  • No registration is required.

All Are Welcome to Our End-of-Summer Reading Celebration

Come by yourself or bring the whole family to the End-of-Summer Reading Celebration at the Bittersweet Branch on Monday, August 5, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

  • We are celebrating the successful conclusion of our?reading challenge! The community is welcome to?join us for outdoor games, prizes, popcorn and Kona Ice.
  • If you participated in our MPHPL Summer Reading Challenge, you are eligible to enter our prize drawings for a chance to win a Ninja Golf unlimited mini-golf day pass or free Indiana State Fair passes.

MPHPL Receives a $5,000 Grant to Fund Colorful Creations Series


MPHPL is proud to announce that we are the recipients of?a $5,000 Lifelong Arts Indiana grant, which will fund two five-week creative art series for adults 60 and older!

  • Colorful Creations at MPHPL: Acrylic Painting, the first five-week series, will be held at the downtown Mishawaka Library on the following Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.: August?6, 13, 20, 27 and September?3.
  • Learn the basics of acrylic painting with artist Linda Pieri while socializing and connecting with others.
  • Each week guests will leave with their unique canvas painting.
  • Registrants must be 60 years of age or older.?
  • Register once for all five sessions in?this series.

The Second Colorful Creations at MPHPL Series Will Focus on Watercolor

Local artist Marge Burkholder will teach guests the basics of watercolor painting.


MPHPL Welcomes the Class of 2037 to Kindergarten Kickoff

All children entering kindergarten this school year?are invited to? Kindergarten Kickoff at the downtown Mishawaka Library.

  • Kindergarten Kickoff will be held?on?Wednesday, August 7?from?10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Kick off your school year with a?special?storytime, craft, activities and a snack!

The 20th Annual River Bend Quilt Show Is Right around the Corner

The River Bend Quilt Guild is hosting their 20th annual three-day quilt show?

at the Mishawaka Library starting Thursday, August 15.

  • The annual show helps promote the appreciation and preservation of quilts and encourages the art of quilting.
  • Dozens of quilts will be on display created by participants of all ages.
  • The public is invited to attend between the hours of 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • There is no charge to attend the show, and everyone is welcome!
