Jet Byte: Did you Know?
How do airplanes fly?
While an airplane’s wings are crucial for keeping it airborne, they aren’t the only factors at play. In fact, four key forces work together to control a plane’s movement: lift, thrust, drag, and weight. Each of these forces pushes or pulls the plane in different directions, ensuring stable flight.?
You might have noticed the upward bends at the ends of some wings; these are called "winglets." Their purpose is to minimise the air vortices that form around the wings, which in turn reduces drag.
