Although the life science sector has seen a significant slowdown in the number of sales, in terms of construction, the sector continues to perform well. In fact, life science accounts for?nearly one third of under-construction office space, with 33.5 million square feet of the 108 million square feet national office pipeline represented by the sector.

Meanwhile, the industrial sector has been pinched by the multiple interest rate hikes enacted by the Federal Reserve over the past 18 months.?The resulting scarcity and increased cost of capital has led to a slowdown in the industrial sector too, with the current national construction volume 100 million square feet under August 2022 figures. Additionally, projects that started in 2023 accounted for only 30% of the national pipeline.
