August 2023: Conference Season Approaches

The world of local government is special - there is an incentive for cities and agencies to collude with one another to learn, unlike in the private sector, where collusion is illegal. Conferences for local government offer a particularly collaborative environment to come together and exchange ideas, knowledge and best practices. Having that many experienced professionals all in one space is an invaluable learning opportunity. This is a competitive advantage of local government. Enjoy that perk.

As the 2023 conference season approaches, Tripepi Smith is primed and ready to take part. Many who have been to conferences in previous years might recognize Tripepi Smith’s blindingly white-lit booth, flashing lights and exciting TS-themed swag. Others might have sat in on a session led by a TS teammate or attended one of the infamous TS suite after-parties. Attending conferences in full force is a pillar of Tripepi Smith’s marketing strategy.

This year, Tripepi Smith is involved in 11 different associations. Much of that involvement includes sponsorships and attending and boothing at conferences. Being involved in these associations is a large commitment, but sponsorship is really only ? of the overall investment Tripepi Smith is making. Attending conferences also takes a great deal of staff time and resources, with everyone working together to make sure day-to-day work doesn’t get pushed aside while conferring takes place.?

Tripepi Smith is fortunate to be woven into the local government world as both a sponsor and an idea collaborator. We will be leading or facilitating several sessions to share insights on culture building, delivering on the needs of agency executives, leveraging new communication platforms or gaining insights on key metrics for agency communications. Meanwhile, the team will also sit in on sessions to learn from other experts and add that knowledge to the mix at Tripepi Smith to serve the needs of all our clients.?

I recently laid down the goal of evolving Tripepi Smith from a vendor/partner/contractor to an institution of local government. Proactive engagement, sharing ideas and heavy investment in staff to attend 11 conferences in the next four months is just a small part of our efforts to be everywhere for the local government community.
