August 2022 - Together, We Stand Strong
Greetings from the International Council of Malaysian Scholars (ICMS)!
Merdeka — symbolic of freedom and independence, means so much more when we reflect on how much our nation has gone through to be where it is today. In conjunction with the month where we celebrate our 65th Independence Day, ICMS would like to celebrate togetherness.
In enlivening the spirit of Merdeka, we, as Malaysians are undoubtedly encouraged to stick together, for together, we stand strong.
Ongoing Event(s)
#MariKitaSokong Soup Kitchen Volunteering
An ongoing initiative where Associates have the opportunity to volunteer every weekend of August to prepare and distribute food for beneficiaries of PERTIWI Soup Kitchen.
PERTIWI has been relying on volunteers, local businesses, and the generosity of the community to help them continue their mission of providing nutritious meals to those in need. With that, ICMS' Movement for Social Empowerment (MSE) hopes to act as an intermediary for ICMS associates to volunteer for food distribution for PERTIWI Soup Kitchen.
Malaysian Public Policy Competition (MPPC) 2022
Digital Empowerment : Erasing Boundaries
Every year, the Malaysian Public Policy Competition 2022 aims to bring the wealth of policies created by undergraduate students closer to areas of pressing need in Malaysia so they might become more implementable.
2022 sheds light on the aftermath of the pandemic, in which the people are left to deal with the crumbs left behind by policies implemented during that period. This year our theme centres around technology- encapsulating everything from fintech to closing the digital disparity embedded into the Malaysian society of today.
Having kicked off with their roadshow on the 16th of July, MPPC held their preliminary round on the 20th of August with 25 teams participating. The semi-final and final will be held on the 27th and 28th of August respectively. Stay tuned!
