August 2020 News Highlights India
Another month gone and a bland one as usual.
the only positive outcome one noticed was the introduction of the faceless tax scrutiny system.
this is a great development for india and a fantastic decision by the government. different states have been acting as if they are a separate countries apart from india.
tax cheaters have been escaping penalties since decades due to the facility of direct communication between IT officials and the assessees.
and it is no secret that almost every upper mid class local industrialist operating within a certain state is a friend of the chief minister out there.
so forget about a penalty. the IT official does not even have the courage to summon such entities to his office.
but the large scale enterprises owned by national level industrialists are conducting business in the white format.
so the middle and upper middle level segment dealing in black are firstly preventing the large sector to grow fast and secondly shutting out the small sector because startups are not in a position to handle transactions in cash.
such a horrific situation. municipal counselor, then mla, then rajya sabha mp, then lok sabha mp, mla's elevated as ministers in different states, then chief minister, then central government ministers and the list goes on and on despite another huge list of bureaucrats and corrupt police officials spread all over the country.
forget about the senior officials. even a police constable is able to gather so much courage that he is chasing women all day inside his area of operation and constantly targeting vulnerable ladies especially in lal dora areas and blackmailing and eve teasing and using all sorts of luring techniques.
everyone is powerful in his own way. and since it is very easy to destroy but difficult to build - so much carnage has happened and is still happening in our nation. someone or the other keeps throwing the spanner in the works every now and then.
so we need to get rid of the rajya sabha to make things simple and enable laws and reforms go through simply.
no more system of mla's so that we become one country. today we are like a body functioning with 36 or 37 or 39 brains (whatever the number - that is irrelevant).
just hand over a nuclear submarine to several captains (instead of one) to manage during wartime and then see the result.
a country needs to be managed by one powerful leader. but the system is such that even the prime minister does not have much power.
thats what the situation is since decades in our country.
democracy is fine. but there is a limit to everything. of what good is democracy when instead of providing freedom it is curtailing the society in so many aspects ?
for example if someone wants to give world class education to his child within india itself then it is not possible.
because democracy is not allowing entry of foreign higher education institutes in this country.
of what good is democracy if i cannot go to the park for a walk at 8 pm in the night ?
it is not possible to kill street dogs in india and you see dogs literally pouncing at you after 8 pm in any public park in india.
whereas in china street dogs are gunned down at sight with a machine gun.
that is what you call a true democracy. they value a man over an animal. the most beautiful country in the globe in regards to business as well as personal matters.
but here an animal has more value than a human being.
first of all why should there any public park exist in any country ?
the moral role of an ethical government is not to build a park but to provide external security to the park.
the moral role of an ethical government is not to build infrastructure but to help the owner get legal justice in the scenario of a commercial dispute arising during operation of that infrastructure.
or else to arrest the owner in case he engages in any illegal transaction involving his own infrastructure company.
but our government is not privatising because it has already come to the conclusion that the owner will engage in fraud. and that is the excuse our government comes up with.
i can give hundreds of more examples. but its no point writing such a big post which will end-up as a book.
finally one may argue that even usa is a democracy. or singapore or switzerland or ireland etc.
well. they are. yet all of them are winners. agreed. but the point is that to simplify comparison if we take the example of usa then at least they have a privatized economy. even the federal reserve is privately owned (if im not mistaken). forget about the industry.
at least they have maintained a population density of 50 people per sq km.
but the problem with india is that we have picked the ugliest laws and economic principles from all over the world.
and still the way our politicians are relaxed and comfortable with the system is frustrating to observe. everyone seems to be enjoying a nice slow walk in the garden with lush green grass and trees.
it is shocking to see the non-seriousness and non-urgency which is written over their faces.
a crisis has been building up since decades. but no one wants to accept that it is an emergency.
