Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting
Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting is an international aviation consulting firm specializing in Air Service Development
Next week we hold our Darwin, Australasia RoundTable, with airlines from around the region presenting insights into how they are today assessing new markets, and providing guidance on how they want to grow with partner destinations and airports.?Thanks to our Hosts Tourism NT and Airport Development Group and their collaboration on delivering this event.
Forecasting through a pandemic, and as we emerge from it, at different rates of recovery, has been notoriously difficult to navigate.?As the charts below illustrate, we have captured differing markets to show just how hard it has been to re-establish capacity, with so many unknowns or logistical and organisational challenges airlines and those in the aviation sector have had to contend with.?
That was THEN, and this is NOW!?Clearly late in 2021, there were divergent outcomes as governments either opened borders, or travel remained restricted.?Looking forward, as some further restrictions in China were imposed more recently, capacity reduced, but for the most part – looking out again into late 2022, optimising appears to be maintained.?The further one looks out beyond the current 30-60 day period, as capacity is periodically trimmed in the short term, capacity does appear in these select markets to return to or near pre-COVID levels.
DATA Insight: NEAR mobile analysis of New Zealand for a shared airport’s catchment
Smarter Data is the key to providing insights to airlines who may not have the full picture, or are time-poor in being able to know your destination inside out.?Destinations and airport stakeholders have important roles to play in informing airlines of your unique catchments or knowledge of what is going on in your market.?Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting has recently purchased data sets from ABS to provide import/export airfreight, and additionally we have also partnered with NEAR to gain a higher level view of where travellers to some shared catchments are travelling to & from.?Below we provide a snap-shot of this data for the New Zealand market, and from which regions in New Zealand these travellers are going to, when within a destination there are two airports (or more) that share the same destination catchment.
COVID Vaccination Update Snapshot – our last view of the world
For the last time, we review the vaccination rates of different country markets, that have allowed some previously closed countries, to re-open as vaccination rates have lifted.?In the last month, some Pacific Island nations have finally opened their borders.?The World share of those being partially vaccinated last month was 66% - where it stayed for 3 months – lifting in the last 30 days to 67%.?Those with a complete protocol, represent approximately 62% (up 1ppt on last month).??
