Auditing your software with a software house is something that very few people have thought of. Let me explain to you how and why. ??
Auditing your software with a software house is possible although it's quite a rare request. It means that your software is not working properly for one reason or another. If your dev team has their hands full of work and you need to audit your software quickly, then you should ask for an audit, they can help you.
How to do that exactly?
- Reach out to a software house of your choice. (after shortlisting them, don't spam a dozen of them, they will reply to you with even more follow-ups. ??)Use Clutch.co if needed, a great place for comparing software houses.
- Once they reply to you, provide them with your link to a GH repo (and ask for NDA to be signed to protect your IP if you wish)
- Tell them precisely what do you want to be achieved. (it's not obvious to them that you need your software to be free of bugs)
- Ask them for an estimation (how many hours and how much in total it will cost) they should provide it to you anyway.
- Once they give you a proposal, make sure to read it carefully and to ask questions if you have any.
- Whether you decide to accept it or decline, make sure to give feedback to them, it would be very helpful for the company to understand why you chose to accept or decline their offer.
On a side note:
To find the best offer, select max.3 software houses to contact (after shortlisting using Clutch.co for example), the more companies you get involved the more work you will get as all of them will ask you the same questions anyway.
Be open about your budget, they will ask about it anyways and hiding it will not make the conversation easier, quite the opposite. Why? Bc software houses have their own prices and if you cannot pay/afford those prices, then there is no reason to continue the conversation further and it should be stopped to save your and their time.
