Uniting film, TV, art, events, performing arts, festivals, and sports for sustainable change.
Audiovisual Producers Finland (APFI) has joined the Green Producers Club (GPC) as a Club Partner to support Finnish production companies in their green transition. The GPC, known for developing the Green Producers Tool (GPT), provides a comprehensive measurement and reporting solution tailored to the needs of the Culture and Creative Sectors.
“The fact that GPT is developed in, and tailored to the Nordics, makes it particularly relevant for Finnish production companies,” explains Anne Puolanne , APFI’s Sustainability Manager.
“It’s valuable that the Tool and the Club cater to all industries within the Culture and Creative Sectors, ensuring the same methodology for measurement is applied. To help Finnish film and TV companies adopt GPT, we’re offering a 50% discount for the first year of 2025.”
Welcoming APFI to the Club, GPC founder Mads Astrup R?nning expressed enthusiasm about the partnership:
“This collaboration will provide valuable insights into the needs, challenges, and goals of the Finnish Film and TV industry. Finland has already taken significant steps in sustainability, and we hope to contribute further to these efforts.” - R?nning
R?nning also revealed plans to open a local office in Helsinki within the year. “The goal is to facilitate the popular Club meetings, which foster the sharing of best practices and create a unified community to drive sustainable change. Finland is already a frontrunner in sustainability, but we believe we can offer additional tools and knowledge to enhance ongoing initiatives,” he said.
Through this partnership, all Finnish film and TV-related companies will receive a 50% discount on an annual GPT license in 2025, with APFI actively supporting the promotion of the tool. Puolanne emphasized the importance of collective action:
“To achieve the green transition we aim for, we need to work in a coordinated way across the sector and measure progress so we can strategize effectively for the future.” - Puolanne
Green Producers Tool is already being used by Finnish companies across various creative industries, including film, TV, performing arts, and events, with plans to expand to museums. “We now have Finnish members and users across these sectors, and this will lay the foundation for valuable knowledge exchange,” R?nning shared. “Club meetings are not only local but also cross-border, and we encourage Finnish members to participate in Nordic-wide discussions.”
The feedback from Finnish companies will also play a key role in shaping the future of the GPT. “Another key point for us is that Finnish companies, through their feedback, can influence the further development of the tool, ensuring its relevance and applicability in the years to come,” Puolanne said.
“The tool is continuously evolving. Developing it further with input from its actual users gives us the right perspective and allows us to make targeted functional improvements.” - R?nning
In addition, APFI will gain access to aggregated data and statistics generated by GPT users, offering valuable insights to influence decision-makers at both organizational and political levels.

Background
In 2021, the Norwegian National Opera, ?yafestivalen, Strix, and Green Producers Club began mapping what is needed to measure a cultural production within their respective industries.?This data was provided to CICERO, which calculated the lifecycle footprint of all activities. The GPT now includes over 12,000 emission factors, making it the most comprehensive tool available in the cultural sector. It is also the only tool designed for cross-sector use in culture. GPC currently has over 470 active organizations.
