All of your interactions with ChatGPT which include device data, usage data and of course the data you share with ChatGPT.

How is your data used?

"To improve and develop our Services and new features and conduct research;"

As stated in OpenAI's privacy policy, user data may be used to train their models, unless you are subscribed to the Teams or Enterprise plan.

In short forever.

According to OpenAI's privacy policy, user data may be retained indefinitely as long as there is a legitimate business purpose.

Here are some potential privacy considerations related to OpenAI's data practices.

  • Consider whether you are sharing any sensitive or personal information with ChatGPT that you would not want to be seen by others or used to train their models
  • Be mindful of sharing any personal data that isn't yours with ChatGPT, as you generally need consent from the individuals involved
  • For software engineers, it's important to consider whether sharing code or database structures with ChatGPT could potentially reveal proprietary information to others outside your organisation

Should you stop using ChatGPT? Absolutely not, but you should be mindful the data you share and how it might be used in the future.

True, but for enterprise offerings, the privacy policy is different, and they do have SOC2 type 2 compliance.
