Podcast Tip: Interviewing using Zoom

There are many benefits to having guests on your own podcast. Creating?connections, building audience numbers and discussing specialised topics to make fantastic, powerful connections that often lead to collaboration, recommendations and referrals. By nurturing those relationships you increase the chances of your guests sharing your podcast episode with their audience via social media and their mailing list.

Over the last few years we have seen a necessary shift to remote work for many businesses around the world, transforming Zoom into a household name practically overnight. Here are my tips on how to ensure a smooth and high quality zoom interview:

  • Ensure you are in the meeting room a minute or two before the scheduled time, ready to give your?full attention?to your guest
  • Make sure that your?USB or XLR microphone?is listed and selected rather than your built-in computer microphone
  • Choose the setting that enables?automatic recording?of your meeting, there is nothing worse than completing an interview to discover you had failed to press record
  • I recommend recording your end of the conversation with your?own recording software?in addition to Zoom. If your guest has the same functionality, ask that they do the same and send you the completed file as a .wav, therefore providing a back-up file if required

Much love
