Audio Visual /Smart Home Apprentice

We are looking to expand our team by appointing an additional Audio-Visual Apprentice who will benefit and learn from working alongside experienced engineers and designers. You will grow to support amazing residential projects within some of the country’s most prestigious homes. Each day will offer a different learning opportunity or project challenge, be part of our team designing and delivering smart technologies to control cinema rooms, whole-house sound systems, lighting and heating controls amongst many other amazing and interesting technologies.

Key areas of training and development will focus on

·      Digital Entertainment and Communication systems

Audio, video and entertainment hardware, interfaces and content sources. E.g. cinema rooms, speakers, amplifiers, processors, television & radio, streaming devices, video displays, switching and distribution systems.

·      Automation & control

Control hardware E.g. keypads, handsets, apps, control processors & interface standards and building control systems; lighting control, HVAC control.

·      Access control and security systems

Access control hardware E.g. CCTV cameras and recorders, door intercoms, access control keypads, locks and sensors.

·      Data / IP networking

Network connected devices E.g. typical domestic routers, network switches and wireless access points, basic network security and data protection.

·      Equipment placement & mounting

·      Installation documentation

Technical drawings, product specifications, wiring schedules, testing specifications and schematics.

·      Health and safety

Construction and electrical health and safety specific to personal safety and accident prevention. Includes Safe Isolation & Accessory Replacement.

·      Electrical Principles

Basic electrical theory

·      System verification and testing

Applicable system specifications, standards, hardware, software, firmware and test equipment.

The Person

We are looking for someone with a real passion for technology, a positive and pro-active attitude at all times with the ability to work independently and be a good team player, who will be ready to learn new skills, gain new knowledge and continually appraise new technologies. This role will, at times, be client-facing, therefore the individual will be required to deliver excellent customer service, providing the right solutions to meet the customer’s expectations within the agreed timeline.

Whilst this is an apprenticeship opportunity, the ideal candidate would ideally have 1+ years’ experience in a related, hands-on position. Electrical, Construction etc. This isn’t a mandatory requirement, but it would certainly pose an advantage for the individual.

Qualifications and certifications will include, but not be exclusive to:

·      City & Guilds Smart Home Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship

·      Control4 System Integrator & Programmer

·      Design (CAD & DTools & Visio)

·      Networking / IP / WiFi

·      Security, CCTV & Surveillance

·      Basic electrical theory

·      Health and safety (CSCS Certified).

You will have access to training and development support and material to help you progress your career in the direction you want to go within our company. You will receive structured performance reviews with a steer on what you are looking to achieve.

Intecho’s head office is based in truly beautiful surroundings in the heart of Knutsford, with, quite possibly, the best office location in the area, which includes on-site training facilities, kitchen and dining facilities and free parking.

The successful candidate must have a full UK driving licence with their own transportation. Domestic travel is a requirement as our impressive projects will take you to some of the most spectacular properties across the country.

A comprehensive full-day assessment centre will be held during the selection process for this position. – This will be in accordance with COVID guidelines.
