Audio Distribution with 3 Channel Source Selection and Single-Gang Loudspeakers

This Application Spotlight provides a simple way to distribute three channels of background music (BGM) and source selection to multiple zones.? This is ideal for small offices, cubicles, fitness facility training rooms, private dining rooms, and more.? I’ll start with a quick review of the three primary products.?

First, the RU-TPS4A Active Sender/Distributor is a four output Format-A audio sender, signal and power distributor.? ?It has three line-level inputs on removable terminal block, each with a dedicated gain trimmer and dual LED VU meter.? The input signals are converted to Format-A Pairs A, B and C, and all three Pairs are distributed through four RJ45 OUTPUT jacks on the rear-panel.

Second, the D-TPRX3A Three Input Format-A Source Selector is a three-pair audio receiving and switching module. Three Format-A signals (Pairs A, B and C) are fed into one of the two RJ45 jacks on the real panel (the second jack acts as a loop-through).? Three front-panel pushbuttons let you select one of the Pairs to feed the line-level output on the rear panel - one source at a time. ?An LED next to each button shows which source is selected.? Push the selected button a second time to turn off all audio inputs and the LED.

And third, the D-PSP1 Decora-Style Active Loudspeaker is a compact, loudspeaker that delivers rich, detailed sound in a single-gang sized unit.? It features a line-level input on the rear, a 2-Watt RMS amplifier, an auto-adjusting analog compressor/limiter that makes higher sound output levels possible without clipping, and a front panel volume knob.

In this application example, a multi-source background music system is designed with RDL Format-A products to simplify the system and provide easy installation.
