Audacity
Audacity [aw-das-i-tee] noun
boldness or daring, especially with confident or arrogant disregard for personal safety, conventional thought, or other restrictions.
“Son, we have a problem.”
In a moment of hushed silence the son nodded solemnly in agreement.
“Since the rebellion, the universe as we created it is out of balance.”
Again, in silence, the son solemnly nodded in agreement.
“In order for balance to be restored, the blood of an innocent must be shed, and their life taken.”
In that moment of time, the son had the audacity to stare back intensely at the Father and utter three words that would change the destiny of all time;
“I will go.”
Imagine that, imagine a son looking into the eyes of his father and having the audacity to suggest complete disregard for his own well-being, and to give all, to invest all, that the salvation of all tainted with the ugly stain of sin could rest assured in their salvation. THAT was an audacious moment in the history of time. His investment, His life, and today, we are the dividend.
More than 60 years ago men and women across Pennsylvania had the audacity to think that teenagers could change the world. With that firm belief they began to invest in the lives of the teenagers that traveled from near and far to attend Blue Mountain Academy; an investment that for many years since has been paying dividends.
Today those teenagers that were so heavily invested in have indeed paid a dividend, through careers in law, medicine, education, labor, entrepreneurship, ministry, and more. I share this having been one of those that benefited from that audacious thought that teenagers could change the world; and now, today, I have the chance to invest in that audacious thought that indeed, a teenager CAN impact the world for better.
“With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Savior might be carried to the whole world!”—Education, p. 271.
May you join me in a moment of audacity, and invest…after all, they are our dividend
