Auction to help hospitals - 100% of proceeds will be donated to CESVI

Dear Friend,

To slow the heartbreaking spread of Coronavirus pandemic, we all need to get together. Our beloved region, Lombardy, has seen some of the worst of this crisis with an extremely high number of people in intensive care.

 We want to play our part in helping our much overstretched local health service. Like all other areas of life, the cycling industry has been impacted and all cycling races have been stopped.

It feels a long time ago now, but the highlight of March was supposed to be the “Classicissima", Milano-Sanremo. Before the Coronavirus outbreak, we had organised to drive our customers and friends to see the start in Milano for an unforgettable experience of this great race. There, Passoni had planned to launch the Limited Edition Passoni FIDIA Milano-Sanremo inspired to the great win of our friend Filippo Pozzato.

Given the uncertain and devastating times we are living through we initially felt we should postpone the launch, but after much discussion we decided we should go ahead and take this opportunity to fundraise for those in our Servizio Sanitario Nazionale who are doing such an extraordinary job.

 We have decided to auction one of the limited edition bikes and donate the full proceeds to a charity that is doing amazing things in our region. CESVI is one of the biggest humanitarian organisations in Italy, with 30 offices worldwide.

The donation will help them purchase equipment for the intensive care unit of Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo and support vulnerable over 65s in the Bergamo and Milan regions.

 “At our Atelier in Milano we have tried our best to keep production going but had to shut down operation a couple of weeks ago; clearly the impact to our business will not be insignificant. Nevertheless as a Benefit Company, at Passoni, we take very seriously our role in the community and our sustainable and charitable approach to how we do business will continue being the foundation of our ethos."
