Why growing within organization is difficult?
Most of the employees are finding it challenging to define what next of their career. They find it difficult to grow within the organization and prefer to switch to another organization. But, if other organization is giving a better opportunity to your employee why you cannot offer the same?
Let’s try to define gain and loss in term of employee and organization:
Now the question arises: Should an organization let the employee go?
Well the answer is “it depends”. But, why employee leaving the organization should be understood in terms of below framework.
- Impact on organization’s future
- How much time and cost would be needed to train a new resource?
- Impact on business due the employee movement.
- Aspirations of the employee
- Is company having opportunities similar to the person looking for?
- Is person capable enough to be shifted to the position he is looking for?
- Impact on organization’s talent pool
- Does the knowledge base of the organization is being impacted?
- Message that goes to other employees if the resource is retained.
- Culture of organization
- How does organization define its culture?
- Does employee leave due to cultural issues?
This may not be exhaustive framework but should help you see attrition through wider framework.
