Attracting and Retaining Top Talent

Building a Strong Employer Brand

In a recent survey in the HR Review One in Two Employees in the UK are looking for a new job!!

This is a real problem for employers and one of the biggest challenges that gets in the way of growing your company. So, building a strong employer brand is crucial for business owners looking to scale up their companies.

An employer brand is the perception and reputation of a company as an employer, and it plays a significant role in attracting top talent, improving employee retention, and ultimately driving business success.

To begin building a strong employer brand, business owners must first define their company's core values, mission, and culture.

These fundamental elements serve as the foundation for the employer brand and should be reflected in all aspects of the company's operations. By clearly articulating these values, business owners can attract like-minded individuals who align with their company's vision and are more likely to contribute to its growth. You see it’s not just a thinking of values that you think matter to the company, its living the values and having a company vision that inspires your team to get behind it.

Next, it is essential to create a positive and engaging employee experience. This involves providing a supportive and inclusive work environment, offering competitive compensation and benefits packages, and prioritising employee development and growth opportunities. By investing in their employees' well-being and professional development, business owners can cultivate a strong sense of loyalty and commitment among their workforce.

To effectively communicate the employer brand, business owners should leverage various channels, including social media, job boards, and company websites. Consistent messaging that highlights the company's unique culture, employee testimonials, and success stories can help attract top talent and differentiate the company from competitors.

Collaborating with industry influencers and thought leaders can also boost the employer brand's visibility and credibility. By partnering with well-respected individuals or organisations, business owners can leverage their networks and expertise to attract top talent and position their company as an employer of choice within their niche.

Business owners should gather feedback from employees, conduct surveys, and monitor online reviews to understand how their brand is perceived and make necessary adjustments. A compelling Company is a Company that is Compelling for your clients, a Compelling Place to work and a Compelling place to invest in. You see a when you’re building a strong employer brand, it has to meet the needs of all 3 stakeholders. Who wants to work for a company that isn’t loved by its clients? Who wants to work for a business that doesn’t look after you? and Who wants to work for a business that does all three and does so profitably?

So please take part in this poll and let me know your thoughts.

Geat article Jim. I think #employerbrand is often undervalued. Yet what we know, particularly for #millenials that are much more #socialmedia informed, is that how employees feel when they are in a company is crucial to how others feel about joining it. Our recent research #learningfromleavers pointed out the importance of employee engagement at every stage of talent lifecycle to creating a credible and attractive employer brand. Thanks for sharing.
