Attract and create wealth - Part 1 - your money blueprint and mindset

A book written by T. Harv Eker, ’Secrets of the Millionaire Mind' states that by revising your ‘money blueprint’ you can 'dramatically increase your income and accumulate wealth.’
Eker believes that the vast majority of us are programmed to think money (and wanting it) is something negative; that our childhood influences around money, have shaped our financial destiny.
If we ‘revise’ that money blueprint, we can create success as well as keep and continually grow it.
If we think back to our childhood and what we heard, saw and experienced about money, many of us will recognise that it hasn’t always been positive. Phrases like ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’, ‘money is the root of all evil’, ‘he’s a typical Jaguar-driving road hogger’, and so on.
Many of us downplay our desire for wealth so we are not judged as materialistic, cold or greedy.
Wealthy people don’t think like this - they have a money blueprint that attracts wealth. Eker believes that the universe (or some sort of higher being) is there for us and will bring us what we ask for. So we need to give it clear and positive messages of what we want. He doesn’t say it’s just down to that, we have to be committed and take action, not just think and state that we want wealth.
Here are 10 actions he says to take, in order to identify what your current blueprint is, to change your mindset and to start attracting wealth. In my next article I’ll tell you what tangible actions to take in your business, which will grow your income.
1. Write down what you have seen, heard and experienced around money as a child. It could be negative phrases you have heard, about money or rich people, perhaps someone close to you was working constant long hours to try to become wealthy, or perhaps something positive - someone you remember who was rich and happy.
2. Write down how you feel about money yourself, as a result of the above. Do you see it as greedy to want to be wealthy? Are you over generous with it? Do you think you’ll never have enough? Is your goal to be ‘comfortable’ rather than have an abundance of wealth? Do you downplay it when you are doing well, as you feel it might make others (who don’t have much money) feel resentful?
3. Write down why creating wealth is important to you. Perhaps you have a dream life you want, you have children you want to leave a legacy to, or you want to help others. Perhaps you want to be recognised as successful, to gain respect or admiration.
4. Each evening, write down:
One thing that went well
One thing that didn’t go well
Next to each of the above, write the answer to this question: How did I create each of those situations and if others were involved, what was my part in creating each of those situations?

Don’t simply blame something else or deny you had any involvement. Look at the root cause of the situations - everything that happens to us is through something we have made a choice about at some point. If something didn’t go well, it doesn’t mean you made a poor choice which resulted in it. A choice or decision you make can result in both positive and negative outcomes and if the positive ones outweigh the negative ones, then this could be a good choice you made.
5. Write down:
a) What you believe to be your natural talents, Things you have always been naturally good at.
b) How and where you can use these talents in your work life.
c) How you can solve problems for 10 times the number of people you affect in your job or business now,
Come up with at least 3 different strategies for c).
6. Be optimistic. Whatever anyone says is a problem or an obstacle, reframe it into an opportunity. Focus on what you have, not what you don’t have.
7. Write down 10 things you are grateful for in your life. It could be your home, a friend or family member, your cooking skills, or a positive character trait you have.
Read the list every morning for the next month. Appreciating what you’ve got attracts more of it.
8. Go to the library or order a book written by someone who is/was extremely rich and successful, e.g. Andrew Carnegie, Warren Buffet or even Donald Trump!
9. Mix with successful people. Join a high end club - this could be a health, tennis or golf club. Somewhere that wealthy people mingle. Where possible, avoid negative people who put a downer on your life.
10. Don’t watch trashy TV and stay away from bad news.
