Attitudes ARE more Important than Qualifications in Hotels?

Let me make this clear - this is not a poke at the Hotel Schools and People with Qualifications in Hotels. I am well qualified myself.
What I am saying is, if you have the choice you would employ somebody who is well qualified - and who has a good attitude. If you saw a well qualified person with a bad attitude - you probably would not give them the job. A person less well qualified - but with a positive attitude is more worthwhile to you .... Somebody with neither is not all that worthwhile at all.
Hotel Employees with the right attitudes are, on average, seven times more valuable than a normal employee …
…. Should Hotels then prioritise job applicants from potential Hotel employees with the right attitude to work rather than the qualifications listed on their CVs?
Research that I have read recently shows that nearly every Hotel employer (96%) would hire someone who did not have a complete set of Hotel skills but displayed the right attitude over an applicant with the perfect skills but who lacked the right Hotel mind-set (attitude).
Two thirds of Hotel employers also said that if they had to reduce their work-force they would lose someone with a perfect skills-set over someone with deficient skills but who had the right attitude ….
The Hotel employers ranked the top six “essential” attitude qualities as commitment, honesty, trustworthiness, adaptability, accountability, and loyalty.
Richard Tyler's work in The Telegraph newspaper suggested employers get inundated by people asking for work experience and applying for jobs; but if individuals keep on coming back, showing they are enthusiastic and committed, then employers consider they have something to work with.
It suggested to get in the door (to get a job), it is important that you have to have the right attitude; as often, young people (16 to 23 year olds) don’t have the skill sets even if they have been to college?
So, surely, employers are looking for the correct attitude - not just a qualification …
… Even a very skilled employee who comes well recommended. Even one whom is very impressive at interview, will not survive long in the Hotel job if they just didn’t want to work, had no enthusiasm, curiosity or entrepreneurship.
Hotel Employers often say that mind-set is so important to keeping a job. Thinking about life in Hotels - even if someone was hired with the wrong attitude, they would not last long.
Hotels often have small teams and everyone has to get on with each other. Hotels cannot afford for a single person to disrupt their hard working close teams.
Employers told the research that someone with a winning mind-set was, on average, seven times more valuable than a normal employee.
