Attitude towards Outer or Inner World: Extraversion ( E ) and Introversion ( I )

Further I am planning to present my views in different domains which I have tried to gain expertise. Where do you receive your energy?

Bert was the director of a nonprofit organization. Maybe he had read a book about managers or had visited a seminar on leadership at some point. Anyway, he started to leave his office door open. When asked about it, he said " I want my employees to know that they can come in anytime and talk to me. But no one has stepped in to talk." Bert was a good boss, but by the way he worked everyone knew he was reserved - introverted. Anyone that merely passed by his office detected that he was concentrating and focusing on his work. People can sense that. Someone recommended: " Why don't you keep your door shut, then you will not get distracted and you can get your work done more quickly and then make specific appointments with your people." He tried it, and he felt much better.

The mandate to keep your doors open is a natural request from extraverts. It works well for them, but not necessarily so for introverts.

Of course, everybody needs to withdraw from time to time - to close the doors and get things done.

Introverts receive their energy while they reflect and think through issues on their own, in solitary union with themselves. They signal not to talk all the time; they need some time to reflect. Extraverts, on the other hand, get their energy as they connect with their environment. the extraverted motto is : How can I know what I think, if I don't hear what I say?

Let us understand it through an example :

Two person Mr. A and Mr. S decided to walk through the woods just on their own. Based upon the things they do in the woods, we can think upon the attitude they posses, whether it is Extraversion (E) or an Introversion (I).

Mr. S, as he walks down the the path by himself, he looks around, enjoys nature, hears the birds singing, and takes in the smells of the forest and fauna. He is connected with outer world and recharges his batteries. Mr. A, on the other hand, walks through the same woods, thinking, reflecting, and suddenly look up to realize that he have missed an important turn in the path. When an extravert walks through the woods, they enjoy the trees and the landscape. The introvert loves to dive into his inner world when taking the same walk.

Many times we encounter situations where we had been challenged on the spot to react or present any idea. In these circumstances who is at a disadvantage from the very beginning? Yes, the introvert. But what would you call a extravert? Just talkers? Not necessarily. Consider a lady working at a bank. She have to or prefer extraversion. Naturally, she has to concentrate on her work. But at the same time she is working at the customer desk. Hence she need to handle the queries of customers and resolve them in a satisfying manner. She possess a attitude where she has her own inner voice and attitude but also her attitude is been determined by the audience. "I just look out the window and enjoy the people out there - just for a few minutes - and I get my energy back."

The difference between extraverts and introverts: For the extravert, the ceiling comes down quicker when they are alone. They get their energy when they talk to others.

What preferences do actors have? Extravert? Of course, there are many actors who prefer extraversion. Actors and celebrities are usually the last people you'd expect to be introverts. It may seem counterintuitive, but many famous actors and larger-than-life personalities are actually very shy. Some of these admittedly reserved superstars of Telugu cinema include Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan who have been enjoying a demigod status among the masses. Despite delivering stunning performances on the silver screen, these actors become extremely reserved when it comes to public gatherings, promotions and interviews.

If an introvert loses the connection to the role stored inside of him, he loses the train of thought. An extravert could have talked on until he was back on track., but not so for the introvert. There are different strategies for extraverts and introverts to load up their batteries for psychic energy.

Source of energy: Extraversion or Introversion. Where do you get your energy?

We have gone through two types of the function till now in previous articles ( Perceiving function: Sensing and Intuition and the Judging function: Thinking and Feeling) These are the two types of function in the type theory. Before understanding the four basic scales I will publish one more article on the fourth scale of measurement, the Attitude towards the Outside World which we call as "Lifestyle".
