MEET NJORD AT CIRCULAR FURNITURE DAYS IN COPENHAGEN

From June 12th to 14th, design enthusiasts, professionals, and companies from around the world will once again gather in Copenhagen to celebrate and explore Danish design and craftsmanship. NJORD has been invited by Formland and Lifestyle & DesignCluster to participate in the exhibition hosted under 3daysofdesign during Circular Furniture Days in the garden of Designmuseum Denmark. Formland, Lifestyle & DesignCluster, Designmuseum Denmark, and the Danish Plastics Federation will jointly host a series of exciting talks and events featuring a select group of Danish brands that, like NJORD, have circularity embedded in their DNA.

DOME DESIGNED WITH ATTITUDE AND NATURE IN MIND

• Circular Design: Learning from Nature. NJORD's domes are inspired by naturally occurring geometries and morphologies. Part of the awardwinning design-trio behind the NJORD dome explains how humans can borrow nature's principles to design material-economic, strong, and beautiful structures. The panel: Anne Romme, architect MAA, Ph.D., lecturer at the Royal Academy – Ion S?rvin, artist from the Royal Academy, founder of the renowned and award-winning avant-garde art group n55.

Every day from 10am - 5pm

• Dive into our two models LIBRA and SIGNA and be immersed in the atmosphere, colors and shapes of a unique design inspired by the structure of the sea pine. Here you will find immersion, inspiration and peace of mind, which is an attracted contribution to our hectic and compact lives with growing challenges to be mastered.

• VR experience of a double NJORD dome at NJORD stand. Model TERRA has an extra futuristic expression and can become up to 100 m2 large by putting several domes together. We have brought a couple of VR glasses and give you a digital tour of a 20m2 dome, which for daily creates joy and value for young people with different diagnoses in a relief offer in Slagelse, Denmark

BIOPHILIA TO THE PEOPLE

Biophilia represents our innate tendency to focus on life and lifelike processes.

The NJORD dome embodies this ethos by incorporating the six principles of biophilic design, reconnecting people with the natural world and enhancing health and well-being while fostering a deep sense of belonging and connection to place. Try to step into the NJORD dome and experience this refreshing and much needed approach on your own body at CIRCULAR FURNITURE DAYS.

1. Environmental characteristics:

NJORD focuses on recycled materials and creates transparent durable spaces that connect with nature. The dome is the first worldwide EPD-evaluated greenhouse.

2. Natural forms and shapes:

The dome in NJORD is inspired by the shapes of a sea urchin, creating an organic and inviting structure.

3. Natural patterns and processes:

The variation of colors and shadows in NJORD creates a sensory experience reflecting the diversity of nature and the spectrum of light. It will show itself in a different shape and light every minute and every day.

4. Light and space:

The transparency in NJORD creates a bright and inviting space, while the dome shape maintains a sense of security and protection.

BIOMIMICRY TO THE DESIGNERS

One approach to biophilic design is biomimicry, which involves imitation of nature in architecture and construction.

Inspired by nature’s hexagonal building blocks, Njord’s domes mimic the structure of the sea urchins shell. This design principle, based on a disk construction method, achieves exceptional strength with minimal material usage.

With advanced technology, we emulate nature’s efficiency, building with consideration for the climate, future generations, and humanity’s innate desire to be close to natures beautiful features.

Behind the unique and artistic domes stands a multidisciplinary trio bringing experience, creativity, and highly specialized expertise in design, art, architecture, and engineering into the design process.

Together, they have developed the building concept Spaceplates and, based on that, designed the elegant and aesthetic domes.
