An Attitude of Gratitude

I am not a big fan of Thanksgiving knowing the history of it. Although it does show how generous our people are that they were willing to share with others what they had. The concept of being grateful however is one I do support and so this is a good time of year to remember some of the blessings that have been given to me.
I am grateful for being alive. It is wonderful just to live in the moment. To be able to breathe, enjoy life and see the beauty that is above us, below us and all around us. Each day is sacred and I strive to live one day at a time and act as if it were my last.
I am grateful to have a beautiful wife who loves me unconditionally. She is my guiding light and lifts me up in my darkest times. We work together and she helps me to be successful in my work. She is extremely ethical and makes sure I don't cross any lines. She also has a great sense of humor which is very helpful when I take myself too seriously.
I am grateful to be a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Actually I would be happy to be a member of any Tribe. Our Tribe is one of the poorest in the country but the land and the people are the best of the best. I always feel better when I am back there and I get back several times a year for my work.
I feel honored and privileged that I get to work with our people across this great country. As part of my work I am following my bliss and my work is meaningful and has purpose. I get to choose my own clients so I only work with those who I share common goals and values with. The people I serve have a great sense of humor which I appreciate. They always welcome me with open arms. I get the red carpet treatment whereever I go and I want to say Pilamahe to all those who utilize my services.
I am grateful to all my family for being there for me. This includes my children, my grandchildren, aunts, nieces, cousins and the rest of the Wolf clan. It is nice to have family that is there for me and I appreciate their ongoing support and love.
I appreciate my friends who seem to like my warped sense of humor. They are always there for me and I really enjoy their company. We laugh together, shed a tear sometimes and talk about the state of the world.
