THE ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

THE ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

"If you concentrate on what you have, you'll always have more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you'll never have enough."?-Lewis Howes

Today, the life for all of us has become very hectic.?We are into a rat-race.?In the melee of all this we forget to notice even the things that appear right in front of us; we just fail to register these events.

For example, how many times you have paused for a moment and looked at that beggar at the crossing? How many times we have noticed a physically challenged person crossing the road on a wheel-board? How many times we have noticed a small girl begging for alms, and stop to ponder???And so on.

And seeing all this, how many times we have the felt grateful that God has been kind enough to us that we are much better off than these people??How many times we have thanked God for having given us a healthy body? How many times we have felt grateful for being fortunate enough that our daughters are well looked after by us?

Most often than not, we keep complaining about what we do not have. But how many times we have shown our gratitude for having what all we have?

An attitude of gratitude means making it a habit to express thankfulness and appreciation in all parts of your life, on a regular basis, for both the big and small things alike. As Howes puts it, "If you concentrate on what you have, you'll always have more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you'll never have enough."

Today, I am going to share a great secret with you.

THE SECRET

Gratitude is one of the easiest and most powerful ways to transform your life.?If you become truly grateful, you will magnetize everything that you need, wherever you go and everything that you do.?In fact, without gratitude, nothing can ever change.?Your life will change to the degree that you use gratitude and begin to feel grateful.?If you are just a little bit grateful, your life will change just a little bit.?If you are very grateful, your life will change a lot.?It’s up to you.

I will tell you how you can do it in simple ways:

There are very simple steps to do it.

1.??Make a note book.

2.??On this notebook, to start with, write down list of things that you are blessed with.

3.??Each night, before going to bed, write down three things you are grateful for in the whole day.

4.??Be grateful to yourself, for what you are.

I always lead by example.?So, here are the things that I am grateful for:

(a) I am blessed with two daughters, one loving wife.?I am blessed to have parents who have brought me up so that I can look after them now.?And so on.?I bow my head for all these that I have.

(b) I am grateful for the fact that I never lost my cool today. I am grateful to God that he gave me opportunity to help an old man cross the road. I am grateful that my distant friend confided in me.?And small little things, like I saw a butterfly in my terrace garden today.

And the foremost, I am grateful to have been blessed for having thought to express my gratitude.

I do this just before going to bed each night. ?I sit comfortably on the bed, just for one minute. First, I thank all my Gurus, and my parents.?Then I thank God for blessing me with whatever I have. And pray Him to bless me with more.

Expressing our gratitude helps us in grounding ourselves to mother earth.?Over a period of time, we will find ourselves filled with love, affection, compassion.?We will find ourselves happier and at peace with ourselves.?This is my personal experience.

Go ahead and try, one minute each day.?It is the cheapest bargain that you can ever have.

When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love rushes in."
