Attitude is Everything

We are very passionate about providing outstanding service at Freight First. We want to stand out in our industry and be the very best, we want to be famous for it.
I run regular customer service sessions for the business, everyone takes part whether they are a fork lift driver, in accounts or a traffic planner. Even our drivers have customer service training too, after all they are the people that our customers see most often and we need them to be courteous and create the right positive impression every day.
We all have some kind of interaction with our customers and even if it is only occasional for some people it’s vital that we are aware of the importance our role plays supporting each other to provide that outstanding service consistently.
The sessions I ran at the start of October were all about “Attitude”. Below in a nutshell is what we ran through.
- Attitude is a very personal thing – you alone choose how – and who – you will be. No other person can choose your attitude. You can take ownership over how you react to events, people and situations by choosing your attitude and how you are going to respond to situations. You are the only person you can control.
- Choosing your attitude doesn’t mean putting on a happy face. Sometimes we choose to be unhappy or frustrated. Just recognise that you are the only person who controls your attitude and take responsibility for how you are being in life.
- We all bring our own attitudes, assumptions, prejudices and mind sets to any interaction, some positive and some negative. Attitudes don’t exist in a vacuum, it not only affects yourself but everyone you come into contact with. Attitudes, whether helpful or hurtful, positive or negative, spread quickly.
Above all I wanted our team to understand that we are all responsible for creating the right positive atmosphere internally and that will project externally. We need to ensure that at the forefront of our minds is delivering the highest levels of all round service in every sense.
