Attitude Is Everything!!

When you approach someone the first thing you notice is their facial expression right? Though sometimes they say the first thing one notices is the shoes all the way up, but still the facial expression matters.

Assuming you enter a room or business center and find the customer service representative not smiling, not welcoming how will you to take the whole situation? Obviously you will say that that person has a negative attitude and you'll walk away to look for someone with a positive attitude.

Now lets look at another scenario where the CSR is welcoming all smiling but when it comes to complaining in a situation where you are not comfortable, she becomes rude. That's a negative attitude too right? It started well but she has spoilt it with being rude all because you were expressing yourself.

Lets look at another case where the CSR is welcoming and smiling, and more of it she's polite from the start to the end, we can say that she has a positive attitude right? And you will also come back because of she handled you from the start till the end/


Fun fact about the word ATTITUDE when you add all the alphabet its giving you 100.

That's why they say attitude is everything. Attitude is an assets in a business without a positive attitude the business will finally collapse.

Being a CSR it is important to take note of the types of attitudes one is supposed to show. Lets take a look at the few:

  • RESPECT : The client needs to feel respected and also feel safe around the business.
  • COMFORT : Offering services that the client feels comfortable goes along way for the business and also the client.
  • WARM HEARTED : When the client feels important in the business and also cared for she will stick around and she'll refer other clients to your business
  • GRATITUDE : Appreciating the client builds a strong relationship between the client and the business
  • KEENNESS : Being keen on the clients details and how they want their services delivered is very important in the business.

Here's are some of the importance of positive attitude in a business :

  1. Positive attitude yields high customer retention
  2. Positive attitude builds customers loyalty to the business
  3. Positive attitude leaves customers happy with the services and come back
  4. Positive attitude spreads everywhere and everyone delivers positively
  5. Positive attitude builds enthusiasm and emotional intelligence between the client and the business


I once worked with a lady who was result driven but the client were always complaining of her negative attitude even her colleagues. The management took long to act until some clients started leaving. Later on she was fired but it was too late the clients had shifted. Some business prefers loosing clients to loosing results workers and that's where they go wrong. A customer is like a magnet she can pull other customers out of your business.

It is important for business to offer training to emphasize on the important of positive attitude. You can be results driven but your attitude is what sells the results.

Thank you for this! Customer service is very key in any kind of business.Also I feel it's a skill one has to master cos you have to know/understand your customers/clients and how to manage all kind of them cos of the different backgrounds, diversity,situations that may arise...etc Once you master it you become comfortable and confident in handling any kind of customers. CS is all about making a good first impression and maintaining it until the end for your customer to leave fully satisfied.
