Attention food companies: Truterra is building a more resilient -- and climate smart -- food system
Advancing climate-smart agriculture to help food companies transform their supply chains
Reducing and removing greenhouse gas (#GHG ) emissions is becoming a key sustainability goal for more and more companies. For food companies looking to make their own agricultural supply chains more sustainable, tackling this goal can be daunting.
Truterra, LLC , a business of Land O'Lakes, Inc. , is here to help. As a farmer-driven agriculture and food #sustainability program in the U.S. (supported by a $16 billion #cooperative and a 100-year-old legacy of #innovation ), Truterra is actively working to shape the future of #agriculture -- and helping to ensure a resilient and reliable food supply. In fact, we’ve been helping food companies gain insights into the sustainability of their supply chains since 2018.
Substantial farmgate access
Through a nationwide network of trusted local advisors, Truterra has the ability to reach thousands of farmers and millions of acres each year -- nearly 50% of the harvested acres in the U.S.
It all starts with soil. Based on a best-in-class methodology, our Truterra? sustainability tool provides hundreds of data points per field and is one example of how Truterra strives to help farmers improve their soil health. Our powerful reporting and data management tools give food, feed and fuel companies aggregated field-level data and supply shed insights.
Based on the data, we work with farmers to help them adopt regenerative agricultural practices with the goal of making ?their land more efficient and resilient -- practices like reducing tillage, adding cover crops, improving nutrient efficiency and reducing soil compaction.
