Attending to Awareness meditation invites us to cultivate a deeper connection to ourselves by simply ‘noticing’ what arises within our body, emotions, mind, and spirit.
This practice encourages us to shift our attention toward the subtle movements of awareness that emerge in the moment. As we sit, still, without effort or resistance, for example, we become more aware of awareness as it gently arises, without the need to forcefully engage with, or control our experience.
Attending to your own awareness is a process of 'tuning into' yourself, whilst allowing the waves of awareness -and all that comes with it - to rise naturally - and acknowledging them with openness.
One of the key elements of attending to awareness is the act of allowing itself. To allow whatever thoughts, feelings, or sensations to arise without labelling or judging them. This 'allowing' does not imply passivity, but a conscious decision to create space for the full spectrum of experience to present itself to you. In this space, awareness is the container for whatever unfolds, and we begin to become more attuned to the very subtle interplay of our inner world, recognising that we don’t need to change or fix anything, as it arises in the moment.
In this meditation, we develop curiosity and a greater intimacy with ourselves, beyond thoughts and conditioned patterns. We start to sense that awareness itself is always present, even though the content of our experience shifts and changes.
