Attend your own lectures

Attend your own lectures

We enjoy giving advice to family members, friends & colleagues. Some of these lectures are more beneficial to us than others.?Perhaps this advice is coming out unconsciously to fill our own behavior gaps.

Here’s an exercise you can do today.

  1. Go through yesterday’s interactions with people
  2. List the lectures (advice) you offered during those interactions
  3. Now ask a question; how does this lecture apply to me? How could I apply this in my life?

With the above exercise, you might just find that the lecture you’re giving "them" is what you most need to hear! Repeat this exercise for a week. The sooner you actually do the stuff you’re lecturing other people about, the sooner you’ll stop lecturing them about it.?

Giving lectures is like pointing the index finger at others, only to realize while one finger is pointing at others; the other three fingers are pointing back toward us.?

PS: I know what my son will ask when he reads this article. So let me first attend my own lecture and do this exercise now. See you in the next post.
