Attacked By Thousands Of Them
It ended up being a wild and crazy Saturday with the number of phone calls, emails and appointments, and in spite of being at office at a very early hour, the time needed to get everything done, seemed to race forward, and not to sound like I'm being a wimpy-whiner, I dare say I was in near constant motion for nearly twelve hours straight. Yes, I'd say it was one of those marathon days for me.
One of my out of town appointments cancelled on me, and sort of glad they did because I was growing fearful they'd end up making me late for an appointment which I had to keep over at my lakeshore listing in Clear Lake. I'm glad to find we're finally getting more activity on that gorgeous home, but I have to continue reminding myself that the bulk of the lakeshore homes that sold last year, took place in the last quarter of 2023, which surprised me at the time, but I'm sure there was a logical explanation for it.
After showing a listing of mine for the second time today, I believe we're growing all the closer to having it sold, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed in hopes I'll have it under contract before Monday morning arrives. If it does happen, it'll be a big relief for my buyers and myself because we've been looking at a very many homes these past months.
I received a call from one of the relatives of my long-time friend/client this afternoon, just to let me know she'd passed. There's no question she'll be greatly missed by many including me. From what I was told, she had some unexpected complications from heart surgery she had this past week at Mercy. I believe what makes me the most sad, is knowing she really wasn't that old and just recently, getting used to being a grandma. Oh well, life must go on. Right?
If I should have enough free time tomorrow after my church duties are completed, followed by a showing over at my lakeshore listing, I'll be getting back to my personal projects which were put on hold for several weeks, and mostly because I freely and willingly made the choice to help a long-time acquaintance with the cleaning out of a home she'll be listing in the future. I do hope we don't have a repeat of today's heat.
I'm not looking forward to some additional continuing education I'll be taking via Zoom this coming week, but of course I know it has to be done, but what really gets me, is my having listen to nearly the same things over and over again, which is why I've found Zoom to be more to my liking because it's much easier to keep myself from falling asleep. You're likely gonna think me wicked when saying, I get a kick out of seeing the other students lounging in their living rooms, or eating, or playing with their pets, and the list goes on and on. Many of them are taking their classes at their homes, and believe me, if I were them, I sure's heck wouldn't want perfect strangers to see the condition of my living quarters. Yes, some of them are pretty scary.
Those nasty Japanese beetles are back at it again, and in spite of my having purchased larger 'catch' bags, they're still filling up. The smell of those dead bugs is like something you could never imagine. For sure, if I had to be in a room with that smell for an extended period of time, the gag reflex would be kicking in. Even if I triple-bag them, their odor still makes it thru the plastic. My heart goes out to grape growers because they're very much attracted to their leaves, and believe me, I once saw a long line of grape vines being attacked by thousands of them. Just recently, a back-yard grape grower said he finally quit trying to grow grapes for making wine, and only because of the havoc those beetles created with his grapes. I'm sure our apple growers must have some sort of spray they're using to keep them from stripping their trees, but of course that spray would also get on the apples, so that means there's more chemicals were ingesting.
When looking at the news feeds today, pretty much the bulk of what was popping up, was the Olympics, the on-going war in Ukraine, and the election battle between D.T. and Kamala Harris. From what little I've read, it sounds like Harris is pulling ahead in the polls, so hopefully she'll keep making strides in the right direction election day arrives.
