ATSs Cause Poor Results To Your Job Search, Even When You Get Interviews

Do you think your resume is working well because you're getting through Applicant Tracking Systems and getting interviews?

How could this be, when you're getting interviews?


You'll want to consider these questions, to see if the interviews you are getting are high- quality or low-quality interviews:


  1. Are you getting past initial HR interviews a high or low percentage of the time?
  2. Are you getting past the initial hiring manager interview a high or low percentage of the time?
  3. Are you advancing past additional interviews to finalist a high or low percentage of the time?
  4. Are you getting offers when you're a finalist a high or low percentage of the time?
  5. If you are getting offers, are the offers you' are receiving the right type of offers?


Any of these questions that you answer with a low percentage or the wrong types of offers are clear indications that ATS/human screening have selected you for poor quality interviews, that your interview preparation was inadequate, or you perform poorly in interviews.


While some job seekers are so uncomfortable in interviews, their lack of confidence undermines interview performance, I hear the opposite problem from most job seekers. You feel you're are great in interviews, but can't understand why your search isn't performing well.


In most cases, poor job search performance comes down to ATSs selecting you for low quality interviews - Interviews where you have low chances of landing an offer.


This is a critical realization to make ... because it's something you can control.


But this requires changing your job search strategies to focus your efforts on activities leading to high-quality interviews, while avoiding those that generate low-quality interest.
