As the Russian Army has been pushed out of the northern suburbs of Kyiv, Ukrainians are stumbling across what appears to be one crime scene after another, and journalists are hearing stories of unprovoked, sometimes deadly attacks on unarmed civilians.
Reuters reported on the injured survivors of a Russian attack on a bus with 20 civilians, killing eight, in Chihuahev, a city in the Kharkiv province.
The U.K.s Channel 4 News reported on the discovery of the bodies of nine men in civilian clothes, some with their hands tied behind their backs, in the town of Bucha. Reporter Alex Thompson cautioned against jumping to any conclusions, as the scene is under investigation.
In the same report, in the aftermath of a cruise missile attack, the bodies of 35 civilians were pulled from an administrative building in Mykolaiv, Ukraine.
The British ITV News service interviewed a survivor of the Russian occupation of his city. Russian soldiers forced him and about sixty people into the basement of their building and made them strip down to their underwear for five days. Some people were taken away and not heard from again.
Der Spiegel reported first responders in Barabashova wait for some time after Russian bombings because the Russians engage in what are known as "double-tap" attacks, in which the site is again bombed some time later to kill or injure any first responders rushing to the scene.
In short, from these reports and many others, the Russian armed forces appear to be engaged in widespread mayhem. Members of the Russian Army are looting stores and homes, taking what they want, mostly electronics items as cell phones, laptops, stereos, and TVs, money, food and drink, and sometimes larger items as appliances and automobiles.
Sky News reporter Stuart Ramsay was wounded and left Ukraine for the UK after his car was ambushed near Kyiv, an attack that was caught on video. Ramsay later said the attack illustrates how Russian soldiers indiscriminately fire on carloads of civilians, sometimes wiping out entire families.

Historically, the Russian Army was known for its cruelty (graphic content), both during and after WWII in occupied areas.
Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine illustrates this sad characteristic is still alive and well in today's Russian Army. ■
