Atonomi, The Secure Ledger of Things
Hello, I am fortunate to be working with a team of exceptionally talented people that have a single vision — to protect and enable the full potential of the Internet of Things. We began this journey years ago, and in many respects before the IoT became a common term. The founding team believed that our world would become more connected and an ever increasing amount of data would be produced. The incubation of the idea for Atonomi — to enable IoT trust and reputation through the wonders of blockchain technology — was in June 2017, but the team had been working on much of the concepts and core technology for years.
The global community support for the Atonomi project has been overwhelming — a sincere thank you for that! Many of us have experienced one form of cybersecurity hack or another and most of us have been the victims of recent data security breaches where our personal information has been compromised. I believe the support for Atonomi is rooted in our collective beliefs that cybersecurity must improve. I also believe blockchain technology can fundamentally change cybersecurity solutions for the better. Imagine a world where all devices are both known to the network and can be trusted, not because one party says so, but because many parties have participated in establishing the identity and trust. Where there is no longer a single point of failure or attack vector for hackers to exploit, but rather a vast distributed infrastructure. And finally, a historical accounting of transactions by which a baseline behavior can be established to alert the network to unusually activities.
This is our vision and commitment to our supporters to achieve. The aspiration is lofty, but if the state of cybersecurity does not improve, we will all lose an opportunity to benefit from the IoT. The Atonomi journey has just recently started and many supporters in our global community are now asking great questions, many of which we are not ready to talk about and some we don’t yet have answers to. Many of us are traveling to meet with many of you; at times our response and community engagement will be delayed. What I can promise to our supporters is that we are working hard and will continue our efforts to build the Atonomi Network. We have just begun the journey and the road ahead is not well marked. We will make mistakes because that is the way to find what works and what does not work in technology. We will be bold in our quest to realize our vision and we ask that our supporters take an appropriate measure of the effort required and be patient with their expectations.
We are creating Atonomi because it is needed.
