The Atom Power Expedition

What better way to enter into my fifth year at Atom Power than by receiving UL certification for our second generation Solid State Circuit Breaker and shipping products out to customers. In retrospect, I want to thank Atom Power for this amazing opportunity and as a tribute, pen down some of the attributes that made us be who we are today.

Solid State Circuit Breaker - a pounding name tag for a revolutionary technological concept aimed at infrastructure safety, usability, and sophistication. No brainier on the surface but under the hood there lies an entire industry built on traditional mechanical circuit breakers with not only the buildings developed around it but also the standards, codes and facilities personnel, let alone the technical challenges involved in realization of the concept. Back in 2015 when Atom Power was started off this way to make a mark in the industry, it had to start from ground zero.

Getting the concept into fruition all the way up to getting UL certification to enter the market demanded courage, determination, perseverance, and sacrifice. We were prepared to take it on, one step at a time in the dark tunnel. The light at the end of the tunnel is a world whose electrical infrastructure is much safer, cleaner, and more advanced, with solid state power control and distribution at the heart of it. Founders Ryan Kennedy and Denis Kouroussis created an upbeat environment where we could experiment with our ideas, crash hard and fall, but they ensured we got up and kept going, navigating us through the tunnel. It was a character-building journey and our product shaped along with it. There were times when we met near-dead ends, but we stuck together, came up with miraculous and innovative ways to brace through the obstacles. This was the road to the first-ever UL certified solid state circuit breaker.

Fast forward to the Year 2020 - this is when the rubber meets the road. As we ship the second-generation product to our pilot customers / early adopters, we eagerly await their feedback, with hopes that our hard work and efforts would manifest through the Atom Switches. With Mike Harris getting on board and bringing valuable experience in product development to the table as the VP of Engineering, we were on a turbo boost mode with the second generation circuit breaker, making it more reliable and robust which in turn got us through the certification tests in the first shot!

Atom Power has personally been a huge blessing. It laid down the perfect platform for me to engineer the magical coalition of hardware and software in the life safety realm, more than which I could not have asked for. I want to thank Ryan and Denis for trusting my abilities and investing in me, with constant support through thick and thin, helping me grow in maturity and stature. A big shout out to all my colleagues for the unyielding effort that they had displayed during the journey and for all the memorable moments that we had together as one A-team. Last but not least, I want to thank all our investors for their faith entrusted not only in the fledgling technology but in each and every one of us here at Atom Power.

The industry can rest assured that we got them covered, in their quest for a better future for humanity. With a whole suite of revolutionary products, functionalities and surprises lined up for 2020 and beyond, let the trumpets blow in wishing you all a very happy new year on behalf of Atom Power!
