ATL Doubled Down on Recycling for Earth Day 2023

Every day is Earth Day here at eWaste ePlanet, but for those who only celebrate once a year, here’s a breakdown of what our April looked like! We truly could have not imagined such an amazing?turnout throughout Metro Atlanta. ?

In just four weeks: we partnered with approximately 125 commercial properties, hosted four?e-Drives for cities, and were on-site for eight tabling events. This collaboration and team effort concluded in?recycling?around 900,000 pounds (450 tonnes) of electronics, almost doubling the weight from last year.?

?The week of April 17th, you could see us all around metro Atlanta visiting office buildings, presenting for Lunch-n-Learns, and offering recycled swag. It’s always a wonderful time meeting tenants and connecting with those who continue to help us provide this service year after year.?

It's important to spread awareness for all recycling topics, but now?we see that electronics recycling is starting to catch on like, paper and plastic. From the questions and involvement from the community to property managers reaching out to us to plan events, eWaste ePlanet has been happily overwhelmed with the amount of information people know about electronics recycling. Recently receiving our R2.v3 certification back in December 2022, you can be sure?that our processes and facility are up to the highest standards to ensure the most eco-friendly, secure service we can provide our clients. ?

Each year, Georgia Natural Gas and eWaste ePlanet partner together to host a city-wide electronics recycling event at Lenox Mall, and this year their goal was to hit 20,000 pounds of electronics. Woo, talk about raising the bar for sustainability in metro Atlanta! This event was held on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd where?we invited anyone and everyone to come out and recycle their electronics for the greater good of our planet while enjoying the live DJ. Five busy hours had gone by, and the event came to an end with the final?weight being 29,374 pounds! We?could not have asked for a better event; everyone was able to see the impact of those coming together and bringing awareness to electronics recycling. ?

?Lastly, we would like to highlight the great response we received from the ATL Green Market hosted by Tyler Thompson . They are the first event in Georgia to be Blue Standard certified by Oceanic Global, where operations were held up to a sustainability standard and they provided resources, guidance, and solutions for those looking to divert waste from oceans and landfills. There were several?people who came out to Ponce City Market/ATL Green Market to recycle their small electronics and ask questions, but we never expected to be taking a full bin of tablets, computers, and phones. Most people are there to shop and eat, so this was a fantastic interest we received from that community.?

In just a short amount of time, we all made a?sizeable impact here in Georgia, and can’t wait to see what the second half of 2023 has to offer. Thank you again to all who came out and participated in electronics recycling! ?
