ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate: Powerful Gaming Smartphone In Apple and Samsung Dominated Price Range

In my understanding the 华硕 ROG Phone 7 Ultimate which got launched recently is truly a strong gaming phone. How attaractive it is going to be for larger audience at €1,399 or INR 99,999 is the question. The key highlights are mentioned below.

Keeping prices aside, this looks like a bomb device to me, for a gamer where one actually feel the triggers, the haptics and get a true gaming experience with great screen and sound experience. Smartphone vendors have hardly innovated in the past couple of years and this is real innovation that needs to be appreciated.

Despite all the positives, I feel the sales number in India and across the world is going to be small. Here are possible reasons.

1. Niche Audiance: It targets niche i.e gamers. Firstly, not all passionate gamers have a smartphone buying budget as high as 1400 euros and the passionate gamers who can afford it is not a big number (relatively).
2. Camera loving people globally: Camera is one of the key spec for which consumers go for high priced device. This device has a descent camera but not matching up with cameras available in this price point from 苹果 and 三星电子 . Even at lower pricepoint, OnePlus and vivo have some great cameras. I know this does not targets "the camera loving people" but still some better camera sensors would be a good deal at this price point and would have made this device a power packed one. Also, the game streamers and vloggers are popular these days so a better camera would have sufficed to that need.
3. Apple-Samsung Dominance: This price range is already dominated by (mostly) loyal consumers of Apple and Samsung. I believe Samsung Galaxy S series and Apple consumers mostly upgrade with another device in that line up.
4. Smooth experience already available: Processors like 高通 Snapgragon 8 Gen 1, 8 Gen 2, 联发科技 Dimensity 9000 series, etc are already there in other equal and low priced device and they support smooth gaming. I know the experience on Asus ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is altogether different but still a smooth experience is already available on devices powered by the mentioned processors.

I would recommend this device to the following.

1. Game streamers on YouTube and other platforms.
2. Passionate gamers.who can afford it.
