This loss is a hard one to swallow. Astros' fans everywhere would have bet the farm on us winning it all this year, myself included. But sometimes it just isn’t your day. We can all argue about what went wrong in game 7 but I would rather focus on what this club did right…from day 1.
- Got to the World Series
- ALCS Champs (3rd time in a row)
- Best record in MLB with 107 wins (most in franchise history, by the way!)
- Third straight year with 100+ wins (something only accomplished six times in MLB history!)
- No hitter thrown by Justin Verlander (Sept 1st!)
- AJ Hinch won his 500th career game (411 while wearing the Astros uni)
- 288 team homers (Wow)
- 1,671 batters struck against the Astros and the Astros themselves, struck out the least of any team in the league 1th time that’s happened in MLB history!)
- The Astros led the league in fielding percentage, slugging percentage, batting average, and on-base percentage (Craziness right there!)
- The Astros combined pitching rotation allowed the fewest hits, issued the least amount of walks, had the 2nd best club ERA, and had the best WHIP.
And, if all of that isn’t enough, the Astros will potentially have the league MVP with Alex Bregman, the AL Cy Young winner (Verlander or Cole), and the league Rookie of the Year with Yordan.
I’m probably missing a few stats that would go even further to solidify their rightful position as the top Astros team in franchise history and ranked very high as the best MLB team of all time!
Hold your head up @Astros (and fans too). You played outstanding this year and broke all sorts of records. You have zero to be ashamed of. You’re a band of brothers that play that way and folks that have been fans for more than 7 games realize what you truly accomplished this year!
So while this one stings a bit, I can clearly see next year. With arguably the best GM in MLB (Jeff Luhnow), the support of the club owner, and a top farm system in the game, the Astros won't miss a beat. We will lose a few players, call up a few up, and pick up some key free agents...and be right back on top next year. Bank on it!

5 年All is so true but that is why the games are played. No one gave the Nationals a realistic chance to beat the best team in Baseball this decade. The same could be said for the 05 team against the Whitesox. In my opinion Washington had the eye of the tiger, as we did in 17.
