Astronomers Explore NGC 5018’s Globular Clusters Using VLT
Through VEGAS imaging data, researchers discovered an intra-group GC system and analyzed its radial density and color profiles, revealing blue and red GC components. Blue clusters, more spatially dispersed, may have originated from NGC 5018 before tidal forces scattered them. The group hosts around 4,000 GC candidates, with 485 in NGC 5018 alone.
