Capt. Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, died earlier this week in a Houston hospital. In his 82 years, Cernan logged more than 566 hours in space, but his 1972 visit to the moon had the greatest impact on him. He described looking back at the Earth as if he were gazing from “God’s front porch,” an experience that convinced Cernan that a Creator of the universe exists.
