The Astrodome's Concourse Ramps Should Be Protected and Used
The Astrodome Conservancy's current "Future Dome" survey asks readers to choose which of the building's features is important to preserve. The concourse ramps weren't among the multiple choices, but they are historically important, integral elements that can be fully functional, and their removal should NOT be permitted. The preliminary version of the recently cancelled plan called for their demolition.

Although their 1/10 incline doesn't meet the current ADA standard of 1/12, my guess is that the THC and ADA would allow their use because they are iconic historic details, while requiring that at least one new set of ramps be built at the 1/12 incline, somewhere in the building. The two narrower ramp sets on the east side are good candidates for replacement, as they were never visible from outside and are arguably not iconic historical details.
