Aston Carter celebrates Gratitude Month
Gratitude is defined as “the quality of being grateful; willing to show appreciation and reciprocate kindness". It is a quality that is often undervalued (unexpected irony), and it enhances other qualities like hope, joy, and peace. This is a quick and easy action that should be included in your daily, weekly, or monthly routine. It is a simple gesture but important habit.
It was a great experience hosting the gratitude month for the Aston Carter, Bangalore Office because I firmly believe that when people show gratitude to one another, it inspires a desire to return the favour. This creates a positive feedback loop that is important to promote in place of business, every family, community, and society.
How did Aston Carter as an organization celebrate Gratitude Month in August?
We celebrated Gratitude throughout August, and we planned several activities to spread gratitude and kindness.
-?????????We set up a Gratitude wall with coloured markers and sticky notes in the first week of the month for people to share what they are thankful for. We gave thanks to our family, friends, and colleagues.
-?????????In the second week of the month, we swapped gifts of flowers and chocolates to express our gratitude.
-?????????We used a Secret Gift exchange approach to spread kindness during the third week of the month. We asked everyone in the office to draw a colleague's name at random from a bowl. The challenge was to then perform a random act of kindness for the person they had drawn, regardless of how big or small the act was. We could remain anonymous and leave surprise treats on their desk, or we could reveal ourselves and invite the person out to lunch or coffee. The possibilities were endless!
-?????????In the fourth week of the month, we also exchanged thank you cards with our work colleagues.
?As often as you can (recommended once a week or a month), write down a list of about 5-10 things you're grateful for. This could include fond memories in your life, things you love about yourself or your closed ones, acts of kindness from others in work or personal space, or anything related to science, technology or even the world. Make it a habit to practice gratitude as often as possible and start reaping the benefits.?
BE GRATEFUL AND SPREAD KINDNESS :)
