Assumptions

Assumptions

Today's devotional is from What Would Jesus Ask You Today?

“Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” - John 20:15.

Jesus asked Mary this question at the empty tomb, but she did not recognize him because she thought He was dead. She knew Jesus and certainly should have recognized His voice, but she was not expecting to see or hear Him so she did neither. Your wrong assumptions can cause you to miss the obvious, something that is right in front of you, which others can see but you cannot.

Where has your thinking limited your faith effectiveness? Are you ready to ask God to show you any of your blind spots that are holding you back? What assumptions do you carry that hinder your ability to grow and learn? Read the story of Hagar in Genesis 21:8-21 and see how her assumption blinded her to an oasis right before her eyes. Then see if your assumptions and thinking are doing the same.

It’s difficult sometimes to follow directions if you can’t corral your thoughts. Thank GOD He is faithful to us in all our confusion.
